SERVICE FORCE
SEVENTH FLEET, US NAVY
IN AUSTRALIA DURING WWII
The US Navy's Seventh Fleet was attached to South West Pacific area during WWII under the overall command of General Douglas MacArthur.
The prime function of the Service Force was to service forces afloat and furnish them will all the vital supplies and materials to maintain maximum fighting Strength.
On 1 April 1943 Task Force Seventy Eight (Task Force 78) comprised:-

In May 1944, Commander of the Service Force, of the Seventh Fleet, US Navy was Commodore R.G. Coman. His Deputy Commander was Captain T. DeW Carr. The Headquarters ComSerFor, 7th Fleet, US Navy was located at Camp Victoria Park.
On 15 September 1944, the Motor Pool allocated to the Commander Service Force, Seventh Fleet comprised:-
13 sedans
16 pick-ups
17 Jeeps
1 Command Car
6 Weapons Carriers
2 Trucks
The Motor Pool comprised 2 Officers and 91 Enlisted men.
