(REDLAND BAY, THEN CAMP COLUMBIA, THEN NEW GUINEA)
2ND SIGNAL REPORTING COMPANY
565TH SIGNAL AIRCRAFT WARNING BATTALION

 

The 565th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion arrived in Brisbane on the USAT "Tasker Bliss" on 18 June 1942 under the command of Major Harley D. Hughes and initially they were housed at Camp Doomben.  On 27 June 1942, the 565th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion, less the Signal Plotting Company, left Camp Doomben and relocated to Camp Columbia at Wacol.

The 565th comprised three main units:-

The Headquarters of the 2nd Signal Reporting Company left Camp Columbia at Wacol for their new station at Camp Muckley located near Archerfield Airfield on 1 October 1942.

The 4th Reporting Platoon, 2nd Signal Reporting Company, 565th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion left Camp Columbia at Wacol for Redland Bay in southern Queensland on 16 August 1942. They arrived at their new station in Redland Bay on 16 August 1942. They returned to Camp Columbia, on 19 September 1942. They left Camp Columbia on 28 September 1942 for New Guinea. They arrived at their new station at Cape Rodney in New Guinea on 7 October 1942.
