2ND SIGNAL REPORTING COMPANY
565TH SIGNAL AIRCRAFT WARNING BATTALION

 

The 565th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion arrived in Brisbane on the USAT "Tasker Bliss" on 18 June 1942 under the command of Major Harley D. Hughes and initially they were housed at Camp Doomben.  On 27 June 1942, the 565th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion, less the Signal Plotting Company, left Camp Doomben and relocated to Camp Columbia at Wacol.

The 565th comprised three main units:-

The Headquarters of the 2nd Signal Reporting Company left Camp Columbia at Wacol for their new station at Camp Muckley located near Archerfield Airfield on 1 October 1942.

The 3rd Reporting Platoon, 2nd Signal Reporting Company, 565th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion left Camp Columbia at Wacol for Toowoomba in southern Queensland on 3 August 1942. They arrived at their new station in Toowoomba on 3 August 1942. They returned to Camp Columbia, on 11 September 1942. They left Camp Columbia on 16 September 1942 for Coolangatta in southern Queensland. They arrived at their new station at Coolangatta on 16 September 1942.
