JAPANESE AGENT UMEDA
OPERATED IN THE PORTLAND ROADS AREA
OF NORTH QUEENSLAND
DURING WW2
The head of the Brisbane Investigation Branch, Inspector Robert Wake revealed details of many Japanese espionage operations and operatives. Amongst them was a Japanese agent called Umeda who had gathered extensive information on the extent of iron ore deposits in the Portland Roads area of north Queensland.
