CAMPS 6, 7 AND 8 - HAY INTERNMENT
AND POW CAMPS, NSW
DURING WW2
Hay POW and Internment Camps, Camps 6, 7 & 8, in New South Wales housed Italian, then Japanese POWS.
Chris Horn told me that there was more information about Hay Internment and POW Camps at Hay in New South Wales, on the Walkabout Com website.
Chris Horn remembers being told as a kid at the Hay War Memorial High School that some prisoners had tried to escape believing that China was just over the horizon.
The 16th Garrison Battalion were in charge of Camps 6, 7 and 8 at Hay.
