"NETHERWAY" BOARDING HOUSE
CNR OF NORTH QUAY & HERSCHEL STREET
BRISBANE, QLD
USED AS WAAAF BARRACKS DURING WW2
"Netherway" Boarding House which was located at 193 North Quay on the corner of Herschel St., in Brisbane, Queensland was used by the Royal Australian Air Force as barracks for WAAAF personnel during WW2.
Karen Russ contacted me back in January 2003 to say that she had acquired a set of silver salt and pepper shakers with the name "Netherway" engraved on them. They are hallmarked by English Silversmiths Walker & Hall, who marked their productions this way from mid 1800 through to early to mid 1900's. Karen would like to know if they are associated with this building called "Netherway" in Brisbane or another building.
