The 38th Anti-aircraft Battery, was formed in a house called "Belbowrie" on the corner of Donaldson Street and Hay Street, Corinda reporting to Headquarters 2/2 Heavy Anti-aircraft Regiment. They also took over the adjoining house in Donaldson Street. Today there are two extra houses built in between these two houses that existed in WWII. The role of the 38th Anti-aircraft Battery was to take over the Anti-aircraft gun sites on the northern of the Brisbane River from the 6th Anti-aircraft Battery, 6 AA Bty, which had previously looked after both sides of the river. On 1 September 1942, 2 officers and 12 ordinary ranks marched into Corinda to form the new 38th AA Battery Headquarters. Colonel Meredith was their Commanding Officer.

38 AA Bty Headquarters moved from "Belbowrie" at Corinda to a house in New Farm on the corner of Moray Street and Sydney Street in December 1942.

6 AA Bty Headquarters relocated from Blackheath Boys Home to "Belbowrie" at 95 Donaldson Street, in December 1942.  Their Commanding Officer was Major Tony Steinl, and the 2IC was Captain Douglas. 6 AA Bty Headquarters, moved from "Belbowrie" at Corinda to Hemmant in November 1943.

The First Australian Army Anti-aircraft Pool was formed at "Belbowrie" at Corinda in September 1943 as an anti-aircraft conversion, training & reinforcement holding unit. They relocated to Amberley in April 1944.
