RECCE FLIGHT
OVER TOWNSVILLE, QLD
ON 1 MAY 1842
The Townsville Fixed Defences, Heavy Artillery War Diary entry for 1 May 1942 had the following entry:-
1 May 1942
At Approximately 0945 hrs. 16 A.A. Bty. opened fire on enemy Recce aircraft flying at a great height. At approximately 1220 hrs. U.S. A.A. Bty. opened fire on hostile aircraft which made off out to sea.
