MOTOR SUPPLY COMPANY
WORKED FOR THE 81ST AIR DEPOT GROUP
IN BRISBANE, QLD DURING WW2
The Motor Supply Company in Brisbane took on overhaul and repair work for the 81st Air Depot Group including work on carburettors and tachometers. Test benches were constructed for the testing of carburettors, hydraulics and all engine instruments. They initially had great difficulty in obtaining any technical information on tachometers. Once the necessary technical data was located, the Motor Supply Company increased their output significantly.
They constructed an air-conditioned dustproof instrument room. In approximately 5 months approximately 4,000 instruments passed through this instrument room.
The overhaul and repair rate for carburettors increased from one per day to fifty five per week between September 1942 and March 1943.
