WORKED FOR THE 81ST AIR DEPOT GROUP
DURING WW2
In the early days of the 81st Air Depot Group in Brisbane, Queensland, the Repair Squadron employed Hudson's a local firm to manufacture 12 complete sets of overhaul tools for Wright engines and twenty five sets suitable for cowling repair. The Repair Squadron's one and only set of tools had been recalled Air Service Command (ASC) in Melbourne. Hudson's worked day and night to meet the order.
Hudson's mainly carried out manufacturing work rather than repairs. From June 1942 till about May 1943 Hudson's manufactured:-
250 sets of gun mountings
250 sets of gun charges
1,000 machine gun fore and rear sights
1,000 bomb aiming sights
carburettor sights
towing bars
1000's of special bolts and screws
etc
