CRASH OF A C-49
AT ARCHERFIELD AERODROME
ON 6 JULY 1944

The following entry was found in the National Archives of Australia Angam Database:-

Landing Accident: Douglas C49 Aircraft VH-CDD, Archerfield 6/7/19441944 to 1944MP1665/11/101/939.

The ADF Serials website shows C-49-DO (DC-3-201F) which was impressed into USAAF service from Eastern Airlines' NC28345 on 22 February 1941. Then attached to 5th Air Force in Australia on 6 September 1942. It was attached to the RAAF for ADAT as VHCDD "Eager Elaine" in December 1942. It was loaned to 36 Squadron RAAF on 4 May 1943. Transferred to USAAF on 26 April 1944. It was transferred to ANA as VH-CDD on 29 April 1944. So it was with ANA at teh time of this incident.
