CRASH OF A P-40E KITTYHAWK
IN THE GREEN ISLAND AREA

Kittyhawk
RAAF P-40E Kittyhawk, A29-136, of 75 Squadron in Cairns, was practising strafing attacks on American Naval vessels near Green Island on 6 February 1943. It crashed into the sea and the pilot Flight Lieutenant Piper was admitted to the Cairns Hospital with only minor injuries.
