Plan of 155th Station Hospital at Camp Cable
drawn by Bryan Gormley of Yeronga

The 155th Station Hospital at Camp Cable was built on some high ground above the Albert River. There was a Dental Ward and operating theatre, barber's shop, mess hall, kitchen, PX Store, Nurses quarters, motor pool, hot water boiler house, Steam boiler house, Tennis Court, Recreation Hall and a sewerage treatment plant.

All the marquees housing patients were ultimately fitted with timber floors. All of the ward buildings were connected together by a covered ramp and all the buildings were camouflaged. There were slit trenches excavated near the hospital in case of a Japanese bombing raid. All buildings had running hot and cold water, and proper drainage and sewerage facilities. There was a pump house on the Albert River complete with a chlorination system. The recreation halls for the officers and enlisted men were added later.

The camp was built by Australian civilian group, possibly the Civilian Construction Corps, who had their own self contained camp area adjacent to the hospital.

The 155th Station Hospital appears in the October 1943 Brisbane Military Telephone Directory located at Camp Cable. In the May 1944 Telephone Directory it is shown as being located at Ekebin in Brisbane. It does not appear in the February 1945 Directory
