No. 11 Fighter Sector Headquarters was formed at Yanrey in Western Australia on 1 Feb 1943. They moved to Giralia, WA on 6 Feb 1943.

They moved to Potshot (Exmouth Gulf) on 10 May 1943 and then moved by air and to Bohle River airfield in Queensland. on 11 Dec 1943. They embarked from Townsville on 13 Feb 1944 and disembarked at Lae on 19 Feb 1944.

They moved to Nadzab on 25 Feb 1944, and then moved to Cape Gloucester on 23 Mar 1944. 

They moved to Tadji on 21 May 1944 and then returned to Australia arriving in Melbourne, Victoria on 31 Nov 1944. They moved to to Mildura on 1 Jan 1945 and then moved to Sandgate in Queensland on 30 Jan 1945. They embarked from Brisbane on 2 May 1945 and disembarked at Morotai on 16 May 1945.

They moved to Labuan on 10 Jun 1945 and then returned to Australia again, arriving at Bankstown in New South Wales on 5 Dec 1945.

They moved to Japan on 19 Sep 1946 and they finally disbanded in Japan on 24 Jan 1949.
