SHOOTING IN THE LYCEUM THEATRE
GEORGE STREET, BRISBANE
ON 19 AUGUST 1942
On the night of 19 August 1942 an American Provost called Leon Begay walked into the Lyceum Theatre in George Street, Brisbane and shot a young woman called Gwendoline Lloyd in her dressing room. Begay then turned the weapon on himself. Fortunately Miss Lloyd survived the attack.
I'd like to thank the late Barry Ralph for the above information. Barry authored an excellent book on World War 2 in Australia called "They Passed This Way".
Can anyone help me with more information?
