Great site Peter - I have just found it. I am ex member of 460 Squadron running a Macintosh since 1984. I have been doing a lot of work analysing the operational records of 460 . Eventually I will have a complete record of the crews on every sortie in a readily accessible data base.This all started when I tried to identify names of members in squadron photo taken in June 1945. I have about 200 of the 360 in the photo. More of that later however I'll check out the site properly and let you have some more material in the meantime press on regardless.

I am in Fremantle Western Australia but I am about to go to a 460 reunion in Victoria leaving tomorrow back on the 30th March. I will certainly advise any of the attendees if they dont already know of your site to consult their grand children and get to have a look at it.

I'm lucky I am still a bit ahead of my grandchildren computerwise. As soon as I get back I'll get serious about providing you with some info and tables.

By the way I didn't see any photos of Jan Goulevitch with the top hat. There is one in a brochure on "G" George published by the Australian War Memorial.Let me know if you havent got it and i'll send a scan

I wrote to you sometime ago advising that I was transferring the 460 operational records to a data base. I am still plugging away but I hope to complete it early in the new year.

You are still running a wonderful site which I visit at frequent intervals. I see you have compiled an great index of Peter Firkin's Strike and Return. I/ll be ring him tomorrow to find if he knows about it . We will be having this years 460 Association AGM and Xmas get together at my place. I am planning to set up the computer and let all those (which is most unfortunately) who are not aquainted with the marvels of the Internet enjoy it. Your site will be centre stage of course. Peter Firkins has some of his books for sale. Golden Eagles and Burma Surgeon.

Don Roberts has asked me to see if I can trace a wife and relatives of two friends of his who were killed in Bomber command.

Don ( Robbie) ROBERTS DFC R.A.F. flew as rear gunner on 45 operations (including 25 with 460 Squadron). He would like to contact the widow of Flt/Lt James Henry MARSH 157200, Air Gunner who was killed on 16th January 1945, formerly of 12 Squadron RAF and 460 Squadron RAAF. Her name was Christine Marsh and she was in the nursing profession. If anybody has any information concerning Christine, please email to jmcurrie@highway1.com.au.

Don would also like to contact any relatives of Sgt Albert Charles COTTON Air Gunner RAF 1376525 of 460 Squadron RAAF, who was killed on 22nd June 1943. Location: Durnbach is a village 16 kilometres east of Bad Tolz, a town 48 kilometres south of Munich. Durnbach War Cemetery is 3 kilometres north of the village Gmund am Tegernsee. Using the A8 from Munich, turn off at the junction Holzkirchen, taking the 318 road in the direction of Gmund am Tegernsee. At the crossroads with the 427, turn left into Miesbach. The cemetery is situated approximately 500 metres on the left from the 318/472 crossroads.

Historical Information: The site for the cemetery was chosen, shortly after hostilities had ceased, by officers of the British Army and Air Force, in conjunction with officers of the American Occupation Forces in whose zone Durnbach lay. The great majority of those buried here are airmen shot down over Bavaria, Wurtemberg, Austria, Hessen and Thuringia, brought from their scattered graves by the Army Graves Service. The remainder are men who were killed while escaping from Prisoner of War camps in the same areas, or who died towards the end of the War on forced marches from the camps, to more remote areas. One of the graves in the cemetery contains the ashes of an unknown number of unidentified war casualties, recovered from Flossenburg. Within the Indian section of the cemetery will be found the Durnbach Cremation Memorial, commemorating 23 Non-Commissioned Officers and men of the army of undivided India who died while prisoners of war in various places in France and Germany and who were accorded the last rites required by their religion - committal to fire.

NOTE:- I could not find an entry for Albert Charles Cotton but found him as Kenneth Albert Charles Cotton on the Commonwealth War Graves home page and I also found an entry for Harrison and other 460 Squadron members who died on that date and were buried in the same cemetery at Reichswald.

Location: The cemetery is 5 kilometres south west of Kleve. From Kleve take the Hoffmannallee from the town centre, which becomes the Materbornerallee. This road enters Reichswald Forest and becomes the Grunewaldstrasse. Follow the directions for Gennep, and on entering Reichswald Forest the cemetery is situated 500 metres on the left.
