JAPANESE BOMBING RAID
DARWIN RAAF AIRFIELD
AND AA BATTERY AT BAGOT
NORTHERN TERRITORY
ON 16 MARCH 1942
IN AUSTRALIA DURING WWII

14 Japanese bombers carried out a bombing raid on the RAAF Airfield at Darwin and the Anti-aircraft Gun Station at Bagot at about 1:30am on 16 March 1942.

Casualties during this bombing raid were as follows:-

Pilot Officer Thomas Orsmond LITTLEJOHN, 3552 RAAF, (Killed).
Sgt. John FORREST, 406754, RAAF (Killed).
LAC Leslie Roger George GIBBINS, 32581 RAAF, (Seriously injured).
Sgt. Herbert GEAR, 406478 RAAF (Seriously injured).
LAC Patrick Ronald CONNOR, 16021 RAAF (Slightly injured). - See Note
AC1 Walter Charles AUMONT, 40029 RAAF, (Slightly injured).
AC1 John Dudley WORTHINGTON, 60825 RAAF (Slightly injured).
AC1 Maurice Arthur BEVAN, 38807 RAAF (Slightly injured)
AC1 Benjamin MORRIS, 35731 RAAF, (Slightly injured).
AC1 John Joseph ENNIS, 39845 RAAF (Slightly injured).
Private GROUBE, 3603617, U.S. Army Air Corps. (Slightly injured).

NOTE:- I could not find a Patrick Ronald Connor with Service Number 16021 in the WWII Nominal Roll. There was a Ronald Patrick Connor with the Service Number A511. There is a Patrick Ronald Connor with Service Number 16021 shown on the National Archives of Australia web site.
